Advocacy

The purpose of the advocacy committee is to advance local and statewide legislation, policy and funding. AHIMA is recognized nationwide and we’d like to support their mission by advocating for the state of NM. The responsibility of this committee is to empower HIM professionals by meeting with leaders in politics, such as the Mayor or Governor of NM. Advocacy is defined as the act or process of supporting a cause, which we propose to do through dedication and commitment. We support AHIMA’s cause and advocate for the advancement of health information professionals throughout the state. One of the many ways we advocate is attending the national AHIMA conference, Hill Day. This is just one of the many aspects in which we advocate for New Mexico health information professionals.
